Rockhounds have a  wide variety of interests.  Rockhounding is one of the few endeavors that can enjoyed by people of all ages.  For a lot of people their rockhounding experience begins as early as a child picking up rocks.  Some people don't begin their rockhounding hobby until after they retire from their job.  There is no way to include a totally comprehensive list, but some of the interests involved are:
