• Micromount Gathering at Tellus Science Museum
  Cartersville, Georgia

  SATURDAY NOVEMBER 19, 9 AM – 5 PM
  
  Tellus Science Museum will host its first micromount gathering no November 19 from 9 AM to 5 PM.  All micromounters are encouraged to attend this event.  At 1 PM, Tellus Museum curator Julian Gray will present a brief introduction to micromounting for the public.  Following the lecture the public will be invited to join the micromounters to learn about this fascinating corner of the mineral hobby.  This event is sponsored by Vashaw Scientific, who will supply a Leica stereomicroscope with video camera and monitor for demonstration, discussion, and photos.

• The North Mississippi Gem and Mineral Society recently lost two of their founding members, George and Rena Everett.  George and Rena were also members of the Mississippi Gem and Mineral Society of Jackson, MS and the Memphis Archeological and Geological Society of Memphis, TN.  Both Everetts were active in the American and Southeast Federations of Mineralogical Societies and actively mentored and promoted activities involving junior members.   We are all very saddened by their passing.  They both will be greatly missed, as they touched so many lives.
