President's Notes

by Patty Amos
2007-2008

Hello to all federation members,

Rockhunting season is on its way. I’m sure a lot of you have already planned your trips for the next few months. I know that I have a few that I am planning on going on. The Tri Federation trip looks like it will also be a good one. That will be over Memorial week. I will probably see some of you there. Unless I am unable take off from work then. I hope to see a lot of you at the Federation show in Ontario, OR. in June. From all of the reports that I have received it looks like it will be a good show. As most of you, who have gone to the shows, know the Federation is in charge of the Silent auction and the Oral auction again this year. We will need rock for both of them so if you have some you would like to donate please get it to the show. Dick Parks and Keene Clay will be in charge of the auctions and will be putting in their messages for rock in the newsletter themselves also. We are hoping to have as good if not better auctions than we have had other shows. So plan on attending the show, putting in an exhibit and coming to the auctions.

The mid year meeting will be held April 19th 2008 in conjunction with the Lakeside Gem and Mineral club show (Kennewick, Washington). So come to the meeting and plan on going to the show. I do believe the Yakima club show is also that same weekend. So mark you calendars and plan on being there. If you have stamps you can also bring them if you are unable to attend the show in June. We will make sure they get to Herminie for you.

I saw a few of you at Quartzite, AZ in January while we were there. I am sure that more of you were there but I just didn’t see all of you. We tried to hit as many of the shows as we could while we were there. We got to do a little rockhounding but when you go in a car you are limited to what you can do and what you can bring home. But the car was loaded on the way home with rock and anything else we could bring back. Dick and I managed to miss most of the bad weather going and coming home. We did hit snow on the way home the other side of Rogue River rest area and that was 140 miles of snow, which was enough for me. But we made it home in one piece.

I look forward to seeing each of you either at the mid-year or the show.
