2017 Convention Information!!!

The 2017 (66th) EFMLS Convention will be held in conjunction with the 45th Annual Gem and Mineral Show in Bristol, Connecticut, hosted by the Bristol Gem and Mineral Club. The dates for the convention and show will be Friday, October 20 to Sunday, October 22. The Double Tree by Hilton Hotel is the convention "hotel," located in Bristol, about 3 miles from the show location.

What's the Appeal about the Convention in Connecticut this October?

1. Fall color will be at or close to "peak" in mid-October in Connecticut!  Fall colors can be fabulous - rivaling anywhere else in New England. You will be provided with suggested routes for drives in the local area to catch the best trees along with traditional New England charm of winding roads, stone walls and old churches and cemeteries.

2. Connecticut is midway between Boston and New York! It's an easy 2-hour drive to either city (train and bus service are also available) offering endless possibilities for extra things to do in the area.

3. The Bristol Gem and Mineral Club host a great show! The 2016 show had record-breaking attendance of almost 1,700 guests-that's a lot of energy, excitement, and fun relating to rocks. There will be 20+ dealers offering a range of specimens along with exhibits, kid's activities, the auction, and lapidary demonstrations. There will be a tour of the club's Lapidary Center and a cracker barrel discussion on common Lapidary Center problems and issues.

4. Lots of local museums! The Connecticut Mining Museum in Kent; Dinosaur State Park in Cromwell and Yale's Peabody Museum are all within an easy hours' drive and the mineral museums at Harvard and Amherst are less than two hours' drive.

5. Time to catch up with old friends and make new ones! These conventions only happen once a year. Don't you want to catch up with the EFMLS friends you've known for years?
